Have you ever noticed little dark blood red spots on your arms, legs, or your torso? These spots could be cherry angiomas, a tell-tale sign you have a bromide or bromine toxicity. Here we look at cherry angiomas, bromide or bromine and how to manage bromide or bromine toxicity.
What Are These Red Spots On My Body? Cherry Angioma?
The cherry angioma gets its name from the distinct color marking on your skin. They are very common, non-cancerous skin growths that can appear on people over 30. The cherry color is caused by small blood vessels and is typically not serious. Unless you see changes to the shape, color or size, or experience bleeding, from a skin standpoint they are harmless. However, what is important to address is the cause: bromide or bromine toxicity. The larger they are the more likely it is you have bromine toxicity. (1)
Causes Of Cherry Angioma
Those annoying little cherry dots are related to a compound used to make flour “fluffy.” In the old days, we used to have to sift flour to get it fluffy for baking, but today flour companies add bromine and bromide additives. In small quantities this isn’t “harmful”, but you can reach toxic levels which not only cause cherry angiomas, but also thyroid dysfunction. Therefore, when you notice these little cherry dots, you should be concerned about toxic levels of this flour additive.
Bromine or bromide blocks the adapters or the receptors for our iodine. We need iodine to help regulate our metabolism and support our thyroid gland. If you see little red cherry angiomas they can be an indicator or precursor to a thyroid deficiency. Some symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
- Feeling tired and sluggish
- Thinning hair with hair falling out
- Poor digestion
- Hormonal imbalances
- Lower body temperature between 96 or 97
These are all signs you may have a thyroid issue which impacts your entire metabolism.
Another idea: plug nose, close mouth, try to swallow.
What Is Hypothyroidism?
Hypothyroidism refers to an underactive thyroid. It is caused when your thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormones. It interferes with your metabolism which slows down, which is why you experience the symptoms mentioned above. It is important to treat hypothyroidism as it can lead to weight gain, joint pain and even serious issues such as heart disease and infertility. Thyroid levels, or T levels as they are often referred to are measured through blood tests to determine if you suffer from hypothyroidism. (2)
Once you start noticing cherry angiomas you should reduce your intake of bromine/bromide. Some of the best ways to do that is to avoid:
- Processed foods
- Foods containing flour and wheat
- Soy and soy products
- Corn and corn products
You can then increase your intake of fresh vegetables, especially sea vegetables for iodine support. The iodine is important if your thyroid levels. If you aren’t sure about your thyroid levels, don’t start iodine supplementation. You can’t take too much iodine if you have hyperthyroidism. However, these changes to your diet can help minimize cherry angiomas and decrease their size.
What Is Hyperthyroidism?
Hyperthyroidism is an overactive thyroid. It is caused when you produce higher quantities of thyroid hormones. As a result, you have the opposite effect of hypothyroidism, and your metabolism speeds up. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism include: (3)
- Unexplained weight loss
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
- Heart palpitations
- Increased appetite
- Feeling anxious, nervous or irritable
- Trembling hands and fingers
- Constant sweating
- Changes in menstrual patterns
- Increased sensitivity to heat
- More frequent bowel movements
- Swelling at the base of your neck
- Fatigue/difficulty sleeping
- Muscle weakness
- Brittle hair
If you notice these symptoms, it is important to have a blood test to identify thyroid dysfunction.
Bromide Cherry Angiomas are not just an annoying red mark on your skin. They indicate you are likely suffering from bromide/bromine toxicity. To avoid thyroid dysfunction, cut out processed foods and foods high in flour and wheat and arrange to have a blood test as soon as possible. I can help identify toxicity levels and thyroid dysfunction and provide natural treatments to get your thyroid back to proper function.
